From Shubasa to Myself.

I've been wanting to dedicate a post to a show I'm watching. But I think this post won't include everything I want to say. 

So, I started watching this one show called Terrace House on Netflix. It's a Japanese show about strangers living in a house, together. The show shows the relationships (including friendships) between the members. I am currently watching the Opening New Doors season. And I want to talk about Tsubasa and Shion.

Tsubasa and Shion was the first couple for this season. Their story was like completely out of a manga. Shion is a half-Japanese guy, extremely tall and cute (though I think he's just okay, I prefer Byrnes HAHAHA). And Tsubasa is a tomboyish ice-hockey athlete. Nobody would even imagine that they would be a couple when the show first started. 

When Shion first invited Tsubasa to hang out, I think it was so cute. It looked innocent. I mean their whole relationship during their time on Terrace House was very innocent and cute. I love all their dates. At first, I really thought that Shion was sincere. But there are things that he said which made me question his feelings. 

There was this one point, after going out with Tsubasa a lot, Shion told Taka and Shohei that he couldn't see a future with Tsubasa. And then during Shion's birthday, Tsubasa made a surprise for Shion. Suddenly, Shion said that he was so moved by it that it made him like Tsubasa even more. I want to roll my eyes at this. Is he serious? Even I, as a girl, I don't think a birthday surprise would change my mind when I had declare "I can't see a future with her". There was this theory that he knew that the public wanted him to be with Tsubasa and he would be the bad guy if he reject Tsubasa since Tsubasa was starting to develop feelings for him. I kinda believe in that theory. After all, all we see in the house was him being a gentleman and a good "househusband". I don't buy it. He just wanted to be that "I don't date people based on looks" which is totally an act! 

They have broken up now. I feel bad for Tsubasa. But I'm sure it's a great experience. I just hope that the theory is wrong. 

When Shion first said that he thought Tsubasa was cute and she was sexy when she did the stretching I was like wow this was a first in Terrace House. Because so far all the guy only go for the typical pretty girls. When they were officially a couple I still couldn't believe it. Although I was happy that they were once together, I still won't believe Shion. I just don't think people like him don't care about physical appearance. I'm not saying Tsubasa is ugly. She's just not the typical feminine girl. So it was kind of hard to believe Shion would want to be with her.

If Shion's feelings were real, good. He could be my dream guy. Someone who would look past my appearance. Though I have to admit that not only I'm lacking in terms of appearance but also personality wise. Nowadays, everyone wants to show off their partner. So they want someone who is on the same level as them. In terms of appearance at least. It's gonna be difficult for me to have someone who can accept me for who I am. I think. But a romantic relationship is not all there is to life. I guess I should just enjoy life without worrying about this kind of thing.
